However, this journey of success was not easy for AR Rahman. AR Rahman recalled an incident and told that when he was taking a selfie at a party, everyone’s eyes were stuck on him because he was the only Indian in the whole gathering.
Hollywood avenues open after Oscars
In a YouTube show, AR Rahman told that after winning the Oscar in Slumdog Millionaire, avenues were opened for me in Hollywood. People started to know me although I did not know them. Rahman further told that after winning the Oscar, he became a member of the Academy, due to which he started getting invitations to many Hollywood parties. Earlier, Rahman did not get time to attend parties. This time he was in Los Angeles so he decided to see all that he had not seen before. However, when Rahman went to the party, he came back in 10.15 minutes due to loud noise, drunk people and cramped space.
Indians were the only ones at Disney’s party
Rahman narrated another incident. In 2013, he went to a Disney party for the film Frozen. That same year Walt was celebrating the 90th anniversary of Disney. That’s why his idol was installed there. When I was taking a selfie near the idol, all the eyes of the people there got stuck on me. Because I was the only Indian there.
International recognition by Slumdog Millionaire
Let us tell you that Rahman started his career by giving music in the 1991 film Roja. The music of this film was highly appreciated. Rahman won the Oscar for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for the music of the 2009 film Slumdog Millionaire. Rahman has also been honored with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
